Local SERVPRO Sponsors Knoxville 911 Memorial Stair Climb

During the tragic 911 crisis, 412 emergency workers lost their lives, many including fire fighters, police officers, and paramedics. To remember the sacrifice of the 343 fallen fighter fighters, who gave up their lives to save others, Knoxville holds an annual Stair Climb. The participants climb 110 stories, to match the same height of the World Trade Center, to honor those who passed away.

During last year's 911 Memorial Stair Climb, "SERVPRO of Rocky Hill, Sequoyah Hills and South Knoxville was the sponsor." The annually held event raises money to donate to the National Fallen Fire-Fighters Foundation. The donated money is used to provide support to fire service survivors. For the 4th annual event, SERVPRO owner John Greenway hosted the even to "honor local leaders for their participation."

During this specific year, 343 "first responders participated in the event, reach honoring a fallen hero from the 911 attack." Furthermore, for their contributions and efforts, ceremonial plaques were given to "mayors Rogero and Jacobs" as well as "Chief Sharp and Eddie Mannis." Every participant took a day to remember those who passed and remembered the fallen by climbing the equivalent that they had to on that sad day.

SERVPRO's catastrophic loss specialist, Lynn Carter, coordinated the event. During the event, he provided information to the participants and told them about the Sunsphere Stairwells that opened, "so the climbers could be viewed from below."
